I answered the public info line for CAL FIRE for 2 days. What stood out: more than 80% of the people who called had not signed up for Nixle or Mendo Alerts with the Mendo Sheriff. To sign up on a cell phone, text your postal code (or any number of postal codes) to 888-777. For land lines, go to the Sheriff Dept website and sign up for Mendo Alerts. Be safe!
